"I had such a great time on this trip! The group of women really bonded and brought a lot of variety to the table. I returned home feeling like I had new friends, relaxed, and very appreciative of the time I carved out for myself. " -

Bringing together the mind and body through yoga in luxury.

SJ Yoga Retreats provides luxury yoga retreats for yogis of all levels who want to explore their yoga practice in exotic destinations and experience all the locale has to offer.

When was the last time you truly took space to care for your whole self? Your body? Mind? Connect with someone without distractions? When we say SJ Yoga Retreats offers a luxury retreat, we don't just mean the linens or shampoo - we mean, the luxury of time for yourself. The luxury to practice yoga physically and learn how to incorporate the fundamental ideas of yoga into your everyday life. The luxury of lingering over a meal with a friend you already knew or just met on the trip. The luxury of space for yourself to take in your surroundings and just be (and there is no reason you shouldn't "be" in a lounge chair by a pool overlooking the ocean!)  Take time to care for yourself and the rest of it will fall into place.

When a door closes, a window opens. After being downsized from a marketing position in 2001, Sue decided to take a class at her gym simply titled “Yoga”. One class was all it took for her to find that place in life where you can truly be comfortable in your skin. Yoga provides a space without judgment and expectation and allows students to focus on cultivating the positive aspects of their physical and mental selves. Yoga can be whatever you need it to be — a gentle or intense physical work out, a mindful meditation, a simple act of kindness, and so many things in between. Sue blends together a fluid vinyasa practice that focuses on increasing flexibility, building strength and understanding the individual’s body through intelligent sequencing. Sue says she can’t imagine ever not practicing yoga - it will always be with her. She completed her 200 hour teaching certification with Natasha Rizopoulos through YogaWorks, is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance.

What initially led Jen to the mat was the diagnosis of a debilitating autoimmune disorder in 2006.  She had lost her spirit and experienced constant chronic pain and fatigue among other symptoms.  As a lifelong athlete, a high school counselor and a new mom, she came to a crossroad and made the decision to put her health first.  Yoga became her anchor and guide through difficult times. Her yoga mat has become a sacred space that meets her wherever she is.  Jen vowed she would pay forward this amazing gift.  Since that time, Jen has completed her 500 hour certification from the Kripalu Center. In addition to teaching a fluid vinyasa flow, she specializations in Integrative Yoga Therapy, Integrative Functional Yoga Therapy (training under Joseph and Lillian LePage and Maria Mendola)  and Myofacial release. She has completed Level 1 Yoga for Depression Training with Amy Weintraub and Yoga for Teens with Childlight ®Yoga. She is now working toward her 800 hour Yoga Therapy certification and sees students privately out of her home and in group settings.
